I started learning Odin a week or two back and I’m enjoying it to the fullest.
Though I didn’t completely go through the Overview page, I was able to write a lot, without first getting some complex build system up. (See: SIMD is slower compared to SoA or even AoS, what am I doing wrong?)
The language is enjoyable, I’m having fun. It gets out of the way, and doesn’t feel daunting. Battery included nature of the language is just so cool.
I’m glad @gingerBill created this language, so I don’t have to bash my head against C, C++, Rust, Zig, and their build systems, header files, odd / crazy syntax, or package manager etc.
The reason I started with Odin, is:
To be a good craftsman, like Bill Hall said in his talk, Tools of the Trade, and to be able to create software, that is going to run even after 3 or 4 decades, when I am old, kinda like Doom.
Hope to make something cool with Odin eventually.
